LG SL9YG Soundbar Review – goodhousekeeping.com

Overall score: 86/100

Tested October 2019

This soundbar isn’t too big but still delivers an impressive sound quality. You can join it up to the multi-room system[1] in your home and play music from most streaming services. Not to mention, it also has built-in Google Assistant, which you can tell you about anything from the weather to the news. It can be placed below your TV or you can fix it to the wall of your living room, as it comes with a wall mount bracket. Included in the box is a separate wireless subwoofer. When paired together with the soundbar, this optional subwoofer aims to bring your home cinema closer to immersive, as the picture should be almost brought to life.

GHI Expert Verdict

While the LG SL9YG Soundbar will set you back £999, we think it’s well worth its high-end price tag. Not only does the quality of sound pack a serious punch, but it has a lot of extra features, including an accompanying smartphone app and Google Assistant. It should fit neatly under any LG TV. It’s just over a metre long, so also blends in well with any sized living room. However, if your TV is from another brand, it may be a little less discreet as we found that the feet on some other TVs slightly got in the way.
