Bromsgrove District Council launches review into car parking in Bromsgrove with 2020 Consultancy

A REVIEW of car parks in Bromsgrove town centre is underway, to decide whether their location, length of stay and traffic management measures need to be changed. Bromsgrove District Council launched the review on Tuesday (October 31) to decide whether current arrangements could be improved to build on the town’s regeneration and development proposals. Cllr Karen May, whose portfolio covers the town centre, said: “Car parking is an important issue and it is crucial we get it right so we can continue to attract residents businesses and visitors to the town.

“We have been working hard to create a Better Bromsgrove and this review means that we can make the right decisions regarding the future of our car parking provision to complement these improvements.” The council has commissioned 2020 Consultancy to carry out the project, which will then result in a report highlighting recommendations for redesign and redevelopment. Residents and businesses in Bromsgrove have been invited to have their say on the town’s car parks by completing an online survey, covering council-owned car parks, off-street provision, private sites and parking at the train station.

Cllr May added: “This isn’t a tick-boxing exercise, you really can make a difference.” Council officers and a representative from 2020 Consultancy will be offering advice about the review and survey at Parkside’s library on Saturday, November 4 rom 10am to 12pm. Centres manager Cheryl Welsh said: “Through the review we want to take a robust look at how people who come to the town are currently parking.

“We want to harness their needs and build on this as we further develop the town through the regeneration project and the Local Plan proposals.”

To complete the survey visit before December 31.
